Meet The Coach
Jeffery Pointer
Jeffrey Pointer, or “Jeff” was a competitive gymnast for 8 years. During this time, Jeff won three state championships. He then went on to pursue a coaching career, and has been coaching gymnastics for nine years. Jeff has been coaching the WashU Gymnastics Team since 2021 in addition to being a coach at SLGC. Jeff can spot, train, and coach beginner through elite level athletes. James Strevey
James Strevey competed at SLGC for 15 years before continuing his career as a member of the UIC D1 gymnastics team. James has won multiple state championships and qualified for nationals twice before college. He competed at D1 for two years before helping his team transition from the NCAA to GymAct after the UIC program was unfortunately cut in 2019. James transitioned to coaching after graduation in 2021 and looks forward to helping the program in any way he can. |

Michelle BurnsHead coach up until 2022
Michelle Burns, or "Mich," was a gymnast at St Louis Gym Centre for 15 years. She then went on to compete Division 1 gymnastics at THE Ohio State university where she received a BS in hospitality management and BA in communication. After her undergraduate academic and gymnastics careers ended she earned her Masters in social work at the University of Missouri. She has been working as a social worker in St. Louis and a coach at SLGC since receiving her MSW in 2019. Mich can spot, train and coach beginner through elite-level athletes. |
